Hi, my name is David Emerick and I've taught and played the game for over 50 years. I was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio and began playing golf in 1967. As a competitive junior golfer I was good enough to qualify for the Jr World Championship in 1974, to be held in San Diego! That week playing Torrey Pines changed my life. It made me know that golf was what I wanted to do. I became an All American High School student athlete, was undefeated my senior year and finished 4th in the state championship. Along the way I won many junior events including the Ohio Northeast Junior Championship.
I went to college but couldn't afford it for all 4 years and returned to Ohio and worked in the steel mills. My dream was to play golf and never one to give up, I packed up everything I had with no back up plan and moved to San Diego and turned pro at 21 and began my career in golf.
After competing on mini tour events for a number of years, I then decided to become a PGA Golf Professional and earned membership to the PGA in 1988. I've been teaching and coaching all levels of golfers and founded the North County Junior Golf Association in beautiful San Diego.
People come to me for two reasons:
1. They have a problem in their game and need a fix
2. They want an overall plan to get better
It's been this way since I started teaching and I bet it's the same with you.
